Talking Drum
Learning Intervention
Talking Drum music-based learning intervention creates a unique environment for constructive disruption. It helps you to create space and build trust for better collaboration and leadership. It also allows participants to explore and engage with challenging issues in a creative way.
Why is Talking Drum Methodology Special?
Talking Drum is a learning concept co-founded by Aakusti Oksanen & myself. Our unique learning methodology seamlessly combines music-based experiential learning with solution-focused facilitation. Our diverse backgrounds make the learning experience inspiring and relevant.
We learn best when we engage in hands-on activities and real-world applications. Not only do we develop a deeper understanding, but we also remember what we have learned and the meaning we have created.
Talking Drum learning intervention adds a few extra layers:
Incorporates music-based interaction, creating a multi-sensory experience to support deep learning
Integrates West African indigenous knowledge to challenge our Western perspective in leadership and teamwork
Uses a solution-focused approach for constructive discussion and design of action steps.

Why Music?
Everyone's Ideas
Everyone participates in the process. The intervention provides an active ground for experimentation, while building trust in the team.
Tested On Spot
The simulation allows new ideas to be tested, experiences to be shared on the spot and transferred to work situations.
Immediate Feedback
The feedback comes from a personal and shared experience. Playfulness helps it to be accepted and acted upon.

This session will provide a condensed yet powerful experience to support the aims of the event.
Practicalities
1. What is the ideal group size?
Talking Drum workshops can be adapted to various group sizes, ranging from 3 to 500 persons. While the optimum group is between 8 and 40 persons, engaging sessions can be designed for larger groups, including up to 100 participants. For events with more than 100 participants, we tailor an interactive experience in an auditorium style setting.
2. What if I think I'm terrible at music?
You can relax. We use music as a communication tool where rhythms are created collaboratively. No one is singled out unless they express a desire to be in the spotlight.
3. Is it suitable for everyone?
In our experience, rhythm has proven to connect executives, lawyers, engineers, IT departments, and marketing teams in both the public and private sectors. It's hard not to get hooked by rhythm, as long as you can be present as you are. In addition, it often empowers those who are not usually the most vocal, contributing significantly to group dynamics.

4. Can I order you to France? Or Estonia?
Absolutely! While our base is in Helsinki, Finland, we are privileged to work with exceptional partners that allow us to run workshops almost anywhere in Europe. For workshops outside Europe, let's talk about it!

5. "I have a crazy idea..."
